Daily Bread Food Bank works towards long-term solutions to end hunger and poverty and runs innovative programs to support individuals living on low incomes and experiencing food insecurity. Daily Bread distributes fresh and shelf-stable food, and fresh-cooked meals to 129 member agencies and 205 food programs across Toronto. Daily Bread also publishes the influential Who’s Hungry report - an annual survey measuring trends in food insecurity and poverty in Toronto to educate the public and spark policy change.

The Marketing Assistant supports the day-to-day execution of marketing and communications initiatives, with a strong focus on creating content for social media channels. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications team, this role helps develop engaging digital content, assists with photography and video projects, and supports the drafting of blog and other editorial materials. The position also contributes to media outreach and provides general support for campaigns and events.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is organized, creative, and detail-oriented, and eager to build hands-on experience in marketing and communications. It’s well-suited for someone with relevant education or training looking to apply their skills in a professional setting.

To be eligible, participants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing written, visual, and digital content for various channels including social media, email, website, blog posts, and print materials.
- Help gather stories and information from internal teams and translate them into clear, engaging content.
- Capture photo and video content to support storytelling, campaigns, events, and social media.
- Assist with video shoots, including setup, lighting, audio, and logistics.
- Support media outreach and prospecting efforts, including building and maintaining media lists, identifying and researching new contacts, monitoring coverage, updating databases, and preparing briefing materials.
- Monitor media and social trends related to our work and help identify opportunities for storytelling.
- Provide hands-on support for events, including logistics, coordination, photography, and content capture.
- Strong interest in social media, digital content, and brand communications
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with digital tools and platforms (e.g., social scheduling tools, social media platforms, editing software, analytics dashboards, asset libraries)
- Creativity and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new tools and platforms
- High school diploma (completed or in progress)
- Post-secondary education in English, Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Publishing, Design or a related field with an emphasis on social media is an asset but not required
- No prior professional experience required
- Office-based with some remote/hybrid flexibility
